Free Kitchen Pails for Organics Recycling Available to Home Garden Community Services District

Home Garden residents can now pick up a free kitchen pail for organics recycling, from the Home Garden Community Services Water office, located at 11677 2nd Place, Hanford, CA 93230. The free kitchen pails will be available during regular business hours, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Proof of residency is required. Limited to one per household, until quantities run out.

The free kitchen pail distribution is part of the Home Garden CSD state-mandated Organics Recycling program, enabling single-family residents to place all food waste, food-soiled paper, and yard waste in their green organics cart.

Resident can recycle the following food items: fruits, vegetable, bread, pasta rice, grains, cooked meat, fish poultry, and bones; and food-soiled aper, such as pizza boxes, coffee filters, teabags, wet paper towels, and soiled napkins.

Organic materials should be placed loosely in the green cart, along with yard waste, such as grass, leaves, and branches. Plastic bags SHOULD NOT be placed in the green cans.

The new Organics Recycling program is mandated by California Senate Bill 1383 (SB 1383), a statewide effort to divert organic waste from landfills, reducing emissions of short-lived climate pollutants.
